Great machine! Those Denis strockers could put out wood back in the day! Very nice paring with the 227. Thanks for sharing!
Are you floating the gears, or clutch?
mostly floating gears, i think i used the clutch once or twice here.
1961: CUMMINS ENGINE=YAMZ-236 YAMZ-238 YAMZ-240!!!
MACK-LT MACK-LTL MACK-NR14 PETERBILT-281=KRAZ-258B YAAZ-210!!!
I remember seeing that truck around, back in the day. I drove log truck for Bob Painter, and then later for MANKE LBR, where I retired from in 2014
yup Bena is fast
My mom and dad live in calville and seen your truck before awesome
I was going to say make sure he did not put it in gear. ,
Have you seen any other Limas like this? Fairly rare machine.
I always thought that all c500s came with hub reduction, apparently not.
Nothing but pecker poles!
Seems very smart to me ! I wonder if they use yarder systems in Europe. Those behind a tractor also seems handy.
Sketchy sounding story he had there, being up in a tree with no where to go. Reminds me of when a big rock broke loose size of a Volkswagen bug went rolling down skipped over the road barely missed the crummy and went right where the Hooktender was setting up the next tailhold. Thought he might of died but it stopped 50’ in front of him.
Need a bigger shovel for that timber
yeah that poor john deere wasn't liking those fatties
Decent looking shape machine. Case also made a log skidder, no one knows that hardly.
You should clean that log truck🚛 and remodel it
ive contemplated doing that , the owner wants a bit more for it than i can afford to pay though.
And yes I did fix the death dowl pin Problem .
The Cummins 12 valve was put in a lot of equipment, a very reliable engine. I put a 12 valve intercooled In my 1969 f250 highboy, with a ZF5 Transmission.
Thanks Daniel
why were they logging such difficult terrain ? was it the quality of timber?
yes , it was a forest service lease that simpson had , it was ending soon and they wanted to get the wood harvested. I think this may have been slated to be a helicopter sale. hopefully if im wrong someone will correct me .
Very cool. I’ve never seen one before. Thanks for sharing
you bet Thanks for watching!
Cat skidders came with a gearmatic winch up until the 80s the cat made there own winch. It prob a 518 model
Looks like a cat skidder to me the grapple is the same style as
IH "houghs" ? Maybe a Massey/Ferguson
it's a small world, I was the mechanic there for a few years. built the 12v Cummins in that skidder the year before I left. we never could figure out what model the skidder was for sure, it seemed to be mostly an s10 with some oddball parts mixed in. never could get that gearmatic winch to free spool nice either
Late model Dresser S10 or S11 and that's a B5.9 engine but everyone probably already knows that. By the time Dresser fully took over International all their equipment was pretty much powered by Cummins, this would have been the last of the paylogger skidder line the loader's and dozer's lived on long past this. I for one wouldn't mind having this skidder these bigger model's were pretty tough machines that are known to be really good puller's.
Beautiful skidder! Thank you!
Glad you like it!
I don't think that's an Allis Chalmers engine. It looks like a Cummins 6BT 5.9L "12 Valve" to me.
IT IS 100% a cummins engine.
That unit should be dragging some stems! Jpaydirt might want that crane in the background....
IH Dresser Paylogger.
Looks like a S10
did I see a gallion in the background. miss seeing your vids budd. take care
Ill have to throw this vid over to some Allis Chalmers fans.
Why you even making this video when you never touched the Blue spliter button?
Complete mastery of your vehicle I would havevlost every drop of coffee
Very cool truck.
Looks like ya got a couple future loggers in the background there working on that shovel.
yeah Ryan they love to watch logging equipment work .
Which Engine was in it ?
Watching this with Charlie now and he remembers all the trucks and the people in it, he even knew the dog that was shown. Good ol logging days!!
Daniel, I need to get a hold of you to see if you can help me document Eric Andersen’s history. I lost him a couple weeks ago and would like to put together a tribute for his celebration of life Christine
Hi Christine. My condolences to you and his family That is so sad. Unfortunately i won't be able to help you with this project as have too many time commitments, I'm sorry that I can't help you .
Nice to see some of the older methods and equipment.
Yeah same here, Glad you liked it!
Saw a log this big plant a dude an killed heem
Where was that at?
I'm guessing a 353 detroit..Had many and that's what they all had. A 21B has a 652 cummins.
At 35 mph I’m already on 7th gear, why is that? I can’t go faster then 60 on 8th gear
sounds pretty typical for a vehicle with this trans setup , has lower gearing in the rearend
A really enjoyable interview, i like that he kept on sharpening as he talking. Great comnent about tree farming
Awesome. I’m glad you liked it. Aaron is a good guy .
